Advanced Style

Collin recently got me hooked on an awesome blog called Advanced Style: Proof from the wizened and silver-haired set that personal style advances with age. Bloggers Ari, Briana, and Erika stop stylish older folks on the streets of NYC and photograph them, sometimes getting a bit of a personal story too. Their commentary is genuinely sweet and respectful, their attitude often heartwarming. Most featured subjects are intriguing strangers, though celebrity senior sightings are not uncommon. They also cover Advanced Style icons like Koos van den Akker, the creator of the so-called Cosby Sweater. (More about Koos on his website.) One recent favorite was Bungee Jill, a lovely 84-year old California native who went bungee jumping for her 80th birthday (video documentation included!). Being that it is one of my goals in life to evolve into a pleasant senior citizen, checking in with this site often gives me a boost on a gloomy day.
